What is the difference between a full spectrum CBD oil and a CBD isolate?

Especially before buying CBD products for the first time, many buyers are unsure which product is right for them. There are many different CBD products on the market that differ greatly in many respects.

In addition to the origin, the manufacturing process and the price, it is the CBD content and the presence of other ingredients of cannabis that are most important. Studies have shown that CBD in isolation is by far the most effective cannabinoid – if dosed correctly! However, its effect is enhanced when taken together with other cannabinoids.

CBD Isolate

As the name suggests, a CBD isolate is pure CBD. A CBD isolate can be obtained from the hemp plant or artificially produced in the laboratory. Some drugs have synthetic CBD as an active ingredient. However, most users prefer a natural product to a chemical substance or chemically processed product. As already mentioned, CBD is the most effective cannabinoid of the hemp plant.

Here you will find an overview of the effects of CBD:

  • Antibacterial
  • Prevents the growth of cancer cells
  • Neuroprotective
  • Supports bone growth
  • Reduces blood sugar levels
  • Supports the function of the immune system
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Pain relieving
  • Helps with anxiety states
  • Against nausea and vomiting
  • Has a calming effect

With this long list, CBD seems almost to be a miracle cure. It interacts with the body’s own cannabinoid system, which has receptors in many key systems of the body. The mode of action is therefore scientifically well proven.

However, according to a study by The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the effect of a CBD isolate is in the form of a bell curve. According to this, a higher dose of CBD isolate can inhibit the effect again, which allows only a small window in terms of dosage where a therapeutic effect can be determined. You can read the study here in English.

What are the advantages of other ingredients in a natural full spectrum product?

The same study showed that the above-mentioned effect does not occur with a full spectrum product containing all ingredients of the hemp plant, but that the effect of the CBD is generally intensified. Full spectrum products contain a variety of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, resulting in the so-called “entourage effect”. This effect means that the hemp substances interact with each other in such a way that their respective effects are enhanced.

Recent studies have shown, for example, that the body can absorb twice as much CBD in the presence of CBDa (cannabidiolic acid, a precursor of CBD). A product with CBD isolates therefore only absorbs half as much CBD in the body as a full spectrum product. In addition to CBD, more than 100 other cannabinoids in full spectrum products include CBD: CBDa, CBG, and CBGa as well as CBC and CBCa. It has already been mentioned about CBDa that it increases the bioavailability of CBD by a factor of 2.

It also has an anti-inflammatory effect. The benefits of the other cannabinoids listed include anti-inflammatory (CBC), antifungal (CBCa), better sleep (CBG) and pain relief (CBGa). Even with a high dose of CBD, its effect is not attenuated in a full spectrum product.

It is therefore always advisable to use a full spectrum product in order to benefit from all health benefits and not to inhibit the effect of the CBD by either using a dosage that is too low or too high. All products in our shop are of course full spectrum products. Secure yours today!
